I still have to finish the Colinette Coat (buttons and ends sewn in), but in the meantime, I have been working up a quick wrap from the left over skeins, and this is the result...
Row 2 and all wrong side rows, k3, purl to last 3 sts (slipping marker as you pass it), k3
The first and last 3 stitches for the whole thing will be k3 (garter stitch edging).
Next row: K3, Yarn Over, K to marker, YO, slip marker, K1(center st), YO, K to last 3 sts, YO, K3
Repeat last 2 rows, increasing with a Yarn Over, inside the edgings and each side of the center stitch. (4 increases every right side row), and Purling these yarn overs on the wrong side. this makes a row of lacey holes at the edge and at the center, which you can see in the photo at the bottom....
If you have more than one yarn, change yarns at the edge every 4 inches (or whenever you want, mine is quite random, yarns changed when I got bored).
When the wrap is as long as YOU want...
End with 4 rows of k1, p1 ribbing, then cast off all stitches-LOOSELY!!!!
Dampen and block so that the whole thing is loose and lacey and chunky and drapey!
Colinette Wrap:
Yarn: One skein of Colinette Tagliatelli, and 2 skeins of Colinette Crysallis. (Or any combination of chunky leftover Colinette yarns, the more the merrier!)
Needle: 10 mm (Us 15) circular needles. I use Denise so that I can make it longer as the wrap grows.
Pattern: Starting at the center back neck: cast on 9 sts. K3, K1, place marker, k1(center st),K1, k3Row 2 and all wrong side rows, k3, purl to last 3 sts (slipping marker as you pass it), k3
The first and last 3 stitches for the whole thing will be k3 (garter stitch edging).

nice shawl!
So beautiful. And easy! Thanks for sharing the pattern. Best to you,
how long do you knit and how do you end it, don't understand the pattern. Help
That's the beauty of this pattern, you knit until it is the EXACT length that YOU want. Mine is about 24 inches from tip to shoulder, but since you knit on long circular needles, you can lay it out and check the size as you go. Shorter would be a neck cowl/ kerchief size, and much longer than mine would be a full poncho size! When you get the length you want, knit the last 4 rows, then cast off loosely.
Cheers, chris
About how long/ how many ozs were in each skein you used, please?
Still don't understand the pattern. What is "Denise"?. What length circular needles? The finished shawl really looks as if it is done on regular single point needles.
Sorry, Denise is a brand of circular needles that you can interchange the length of the cable. It allows you to make it longer as needed. Straight needles would work, except as you get to near the end of the knitting, you will have SO many stitches on the needles, they may not fit... so circulars will allow them to spread out. Long ones are best if you do not use Denise, or my new favourites... Addi's!
Hope that clears it up a bit!
Cheers, Chris
Would you recommend the last four rows as knit (garter stitch rows) or the k1 p1 ribbing that you stated in the pattern?
Thanks. It is a wonderful pattern. Almost completed my first shawl.
Since the edge stitch up the other two sides looks like a ribbing (to me) using the 3 stitch garter pattern, I like the ribbing edge to bind off.
BUT, a garter edge would work fine too, so go ahead if you prefer!
Love the way adaptations pop up from readers. It creates a different effect, and makes it uniquely yours.
:)
That's beautiful & just what I've been looking for. MY colors, too!
Thanks so much for the pattern.

Question... The last 4 rows of K1, P1, are you still doing the 3 Garter stitch border and YO before the rib pattern?
I just did the k1,p1 ribbing without any yarn overs or other border stitches.... It makes a smoother border without holes.
Thanks Chris for a quick response. I am working on a top down shawl, my own mix of patterns and will finish it with the rib pattern. Love your works of knitted art and easy to understand patterns.
Having trouble with the pattern, it's uneven. I can't figure what I'm doing wrong.
Any ideas why I'm getting off center after about 6 inches.
Evelyn, you may be moving the marker away from just before the center stitch, OR you may be doing a yarn over only on ONE side of the center stitch? Best to have an experienced knitter look at your work, so you can figure which part you are missing.
I double checked the wording, it still looks fine to me.
Anyone else find a problem here (readers can be very helpful!)
Cheers, Chris
This looks lovely! I have Colinette art and am about to buy the mohair and boucle in the same colorway. Do you think two of those will work?
Hi Jane. The beauty of Colinette, is that they all knit well in the large needle size and the colours compliment, so YES, I think those would be fabulous! Such amazing yarns. Chris
